S2 Earns a Road Point at Reno 1868 FC

David Estrada scores equalizer for road club on Jesse Daley's first S2 assist; Rave Green play next on Saturday, June 2 at Fresno FC (7:00 p.m. PT / ESPN+)

RENO, NEV. – Sounders FC 2 (2-6-2, 8 points) on Saturday earned a road point at Reno 1868 FC (3-3-5, 14 points) with a 1-1 draw at Greater Nevada Field. David Estrada scored his fourth goal of the season to tie him for the team lead with Felix Chenkam, while Jesse Daley, who signed from Queensland Lions FC in Brisbane, Australia on May 1, recorded his first assist with the club in just his second appearance. The result snapped a two-game losing streak for Seattle.

In the 71st minute with the away side down 1-0, Daley lofted a reverse pass into the box and Estrada headed it past Reno keeper JT Marcinkowski’s right side to even the match at 1-1. The 20-year-old Daley came on for starting center midfielder Harry Shipp in the 67th minute and made an immediate impact. On the defensive front, Seattle goalkeeper Calle Brown made a pair of saves late in the match to preserve the road point for S2. Sounders First Team players Shipp, Lamar Neagle and Waylon Francis each started for S2 after MLS entered into Standard USL Loan Agreements with them on Friday.

Reno got on the board first in the 60th minute on a goal from Jerry van Ewijk. Kevin Partida crossed a ball near the top of the box and van Ewijk’s side volley from just inside the area found the bottom corner of the net to give the home side a 1-0 lead.

S2 has a week off before resuming USL action on Saturday, June 2 on the road against Fresno FC. Kickoff for the contest is slated for 7:00 p.m. PT and it can be livestreamed on ESPN+.
