TACOMA, WASH. – Tacoma Defiance defender Jackson Ragen has been named to the Week 18 USL Championship Team of the Week. The Sounders FC Academy product shined in the club’s 3-0 win over Orange County SC, where he opened his Defiance account by scoring the first goal of the night and helped the backline get a clean sheet in the process. This is the third time a Tacoma Defiance defender has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week, with Issa Rayyan being named to the Week Four Team of the Week and Abdoulaye Cissoko getting the nod in Week Three. Midfielder Ray Serrano was also named to the Week 10 Team of the Week.
Ragen’s goal came in the 17th minute when he got his head on the end of a Carlos Anguiano corner kick, launching the ball into the back of the net for his first professional goal. Per USL, Ragen also had nine clearances and completed 54 of 56 passes in the win over Orange County SC.
Looking to continue its hot streak of three straight wins, Defiance travels to Oakland Roots SC on Saturday, August 28 for the second matchup of the season between the two sides (5:30 p.m. PT / ESPN+).
